Drafts and enabling

Goal#

Understand why a rule you saved is not acting yet, and how to put it live deliberately.

Steps#

1. Every save is a draft first. A rule always saves, even half-finished, so you never lose work to a validation error. Drafts never fire.
2. The rule list shows the state: a draft, or enabled. Only enabled rules act on your server.
3. Enabling is gated on completeness: a name, at least one trigger, and at least one effect. If something is missing, the enable is refused and the builder names exactly what.
4. Disable any time to stop a rule without losing it. Editing an enabled rule keeps it live with the new configuration once saved.
5. Deleting a rule keeps its change history for a while (90 days), so an accidental deletion is reviewable.
